Recipe Card

Background
This project is all about turning my favorite chicken stir-fry recipe into a fun, visual experience! Instead of a regular list of ingredients and steps, I want to show the recipe as a playful, easy-to-follow graphic. The idea is to break everything down—like ingredients, measurements, and cooking steps—in a way that’s colorful, clear, and a little quirky. It’s a mix of cooking and creativity, making the recipe both useful and exciting to look at.
Using AI Generation
I wanted to take a creative spin on data visualization by showcasing the ingredients for my favorite chicken stir-fry recipe in the style of a tree chart. My goal was to keep everything compact so the ingredients could fit snugly under the instructions while still looking visually appealing. To bring this idea to life, I used Adobe Firefly's AI generation to create square forms for each ingredient, giving the design a clean, modern, and cohesive look. It’s all about balancing functionality with fun visuals, and I’m thrilled with how it’s shaping up.
Date Visualization 1: Tree Chart
Once the ingredients were organized, I experimented with different ways to visualize the information. By using a variety of fonts and weights, I was able to create a clear hierarchy for the components, making the design both easy to read and visually engaging. This process allowed me to fine-tune the balance between style and clarity.
Date Visualization 2: Donut Chart
For my second data visualization, I used a donut chart to represent the components of the sauce, which is the perfect finishing touch for the recipe! Instead of placing the chart off to the side, I decided to incorporate its circular shape by overlaying it onto the illustrated plate. To keep the illustration visible, I experimented with different levels of transparency, striking a balance between showcasing the chart and maintaining the design’s visual appeal.
The Final Adjustments
After reaching the end of the design process, I was happy with how everything came together. However, I always like to explore other possibilities for the final design before wrapping up a project. Using Adobe Illustrator's generative recolor feature, I experimented with different color palettes. Ultimately, I discovered a warmer green that I loved much more than the bright green I originally chose. I made a few adjustments to ensure all the elements remained legible and finally completed my chicken stir-fry recipe card!
The Completed Project
Once I settled on the color palette, I was really happy with how everything came together. The mix of realistic AI-generated images and my own Adobe Illustrator drawings added a nice contrast, making the piece feel personal and true to my style. I loved getting to share one of my favorite recipes in such a fun way and can’t wait to bring more of my interests into future designs!
